About Zero Waste ZP
The Zero Waste ZP NGO or 'Zaporizhzhia without waste' was born on November 2, 2020.
Both of our names are official and mean the same thing — our desire to part with waste as such in our hometown.
What was before?
Activists are not born, they become activists, because they cannot do otherwise. That’s what happened to us as well. Each of us individually tried to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle, avoid unnecessary purchases, and recycle our waste.
But one day we realized that we had accumulated so much knowledge that we couldn't keep it to ourselves anymore and wanted to share it with friends, neighbors, and strangers.
Also, we really wanted to recycle plastic. You know that feeling when you wake up and just want to recycle plastic?..)))
So now we are working to achieve our mission – turning conscious consumption and responsible waste management into a daily habit.

The ideal world of Zero Waste ZP
We will gladly close the organization and go plant potatoes in the garden (the subjective dream of the organization's head, which does not necessarily reflect the opinion of all members) when:
Society does not consume excessively.
Every citizen sorts their own waste.
A municipal waste sorting system functions successfully.
Waste is not buried but recycled.
Goods are not packaged without real need.
Enterprises use a circular economy model.

What we do
Our organization's main project is the PlasticOn workshop for recycling plastic waste. This is a place where residents of Zaporizhzhia can bring various types of plastics for recycling, as well as some other items for upcycling. Then the clean plastic is sorted further together with volunteers, shredded, and turned into new useful things: baskets, bowls, wall clocks, phone stands, flower pots, furniture, jewelry, etc. You can buy ready-made products made of recycled plastic in the workshop or attend a master class to create a unique plastic item with your own hands.

Still, the main mission of Zero Waste ZP is to spread knowledge about conscious consumption and responsible waste management. After all, recycling alone is not a cure-all, and it's more important not to generate waste in the first place than to wonder how to recycle it later.
That is why we hold lectures, webinars, and trainings, teaching people in the city how to produce less waste while keeping things convenient for them and safe for nature. Future generations should inherit a clean planet with sufficient resources.
